Ya estamos a mediados de diciembre, y los círculos de críticos comienzan a perfilar qué filmes entraran en la carrera por el máximo galardón de Hollywood: el preciado Oscar. Ya desde hace un tiempo les venimos contando sobre algunas premiaciones que se han llevado a cabo, y cuáles películas han resultado ganadoras. En estos días pasados, fue el turno de las grandes asociaciones de críticos, y así se perfila la cosa.
Hasta el momento, la cinta de origen francés The Artist (El Artista), encabeza el rankin de las favoritas llevándose el premio a mejor película de la Asociación de Críticos de New York (NYFCO) y en los de Boston (BFCA), mientras que The Descendants, el drama protagonizado por George Clooney, resultó ser mejor película en la Asociación de Críticos de Los Angeles (LAFCA), y los críticos de San Francisco, decidieron reconocer a El Árbol de la Vida. Por el lado de los cineastas, la contienda parece ser entre Martin Scorsese y Terrence Malick, aunque Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist), no se va a quedar atrás.
Tanto en las categorías de dirección como, las de actuación, no están del todo definidas. El único actor que se mantiene constante en la categoría de de reparto es Albert Brooks, por su papel en Drive. Fue reconocido por los críticos de New York y Boston.
Por su parte, el Consejo Nacional de Crítica de Cine (National Board of Review), nombró a Hugo como mejor película y a su director, Martin Scorsese como mejor director. Además, dieron a conocer un Top 10 con las mejores películas: The Artist, The Descendants, Drive, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, The Ides of March, J. Edgar, Tree of Life y War Horse.
La última palabra la tendrá la Asociación de Críticos de Retransmisiones Cinematográficas (BFCA), que es la mayor organización de críticos de cine de Estados Unidos y Canadá. Mejor conocido como los Critics Choice Awards, será la última oportunidad de estos amantes y especialistas del cine para dar su voto. En lo que respecta a la mejor película, perece ser que los contendientes más fuertes de esta temporada son The Artist y Hugo, con 11 nominaciones cada una. Vale decir que en los últimos años, los ganadores de este premio han coincidido con los ganadores del premio de la Academia.
