Hollywood celebra su gran noche con la 90° edición de los Premios de la Academia. Tal como lo habíamos anticipado, fue una gala con pocas sorpresas.
La gran favorita de la noche, The Shape of Water, se alzó con el Oscar a Mejor Película. Y su director, Guillermo del Toro, se quedó con el galardón a Mejor Director. De las 13 nominaciones, la cinta del mexicano se terminó quedando con tan solo cuatro estatuillas. Incluyendo Mejor Diseño de Producción y Mejor Banda Sonora.
Por el lado de las categorías actorales, todo se sucedió tal como estaba previsto. Frances McDormand se quedó con el Oscar a Mejor Actriz por Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Mientras que Gary Oldman fue el Mejor Actor por su magnífica actuación y transformación en Winston Churchill para Darkest Hour.
En tanto, Allison Janney resultó ser la Mejor Actriz de Reparto por su rol en I, Tonya. Y Sam Rockwell repitió por su interpretación en Three Billboards.
Coco, la imparable producción de Disney/Pixar triunfó como Mejor Película Animada y Mejor Canción Original.
La ceremonia estuvo conducida conducida una vez más por Jimmy Kimmel, quien mantuvo un perfil similar al del año anterior. Sobrio, no demasiado elocuente y con chistes a medio pelo. Nada innovador.
Al igual que la premiación, que año tras año nos sigue ofreciendo una gala extensa, monótona y por momentos aburrida.
El único momento de la noche que hizo cambiar el ritmo de la noche, fue sobre el final cuando Frances McDormand subió al escenario a recibir el premio a Mejor Actriz. Quien de forma muy particular elogió y reconoció la labor de todas las mujeres de la industria.
