La fantástica creación musical de Damien Chazelle sigue dando que hablar. En esta oportunidad lo ha hecho durante la 70° edición de los British Academy Film Awards. Allí, La La Land se quedó cinco premios incluyendo Mejor Película, Mejor Director y Mejor Actriz para Emma Stone.
Por su parte, Casey Affleck se quedó con el Bafta a Mejor Actor por su actuación en Manchester by the Sea. El largometraje de Kenneth Lonergan también se quedó con el premio a Mejor Guión Original.
En la categoría de reparto, Viola Davis se alzó en la terna femenina por su rol en Fences, mientras que Dev Patel se quedó con la categoría masculina por su papel en el drama Lion.
El film I, Daniel Blake de Ken Loach se quedó con el galardón a Mejor Película Británica. Una de las grandes sorpresas de la noche fue el premio a Mejor Película Animada que quedó en manos de Kubo and the Two Strings de Laika Entertainment.
Este año el premio al mejor actor joven EE Rising Star BAFTA, el único galardón elegido por el público, fue para Tom Holland. El actor saltó a la fama con la película The Impossible y próximamente será visto en Spider-Man: Homecoming, y en las próximas cintas de Marvel.
En tanto, el legendario actor Mel Brooks recibió el BAFTA Fellowship a la trayectoria, por su excepcional contribución a la industria.
