Una vez más el Royal Opera House de Londres se vistió de gala para celebrar la 69 edición de los BAFTA Awards, los premios que otorga la Academia Británica de Cine. A pesar de que no era la cinta con más nominaciones, The Revenant volvió a quedarse con los galardones más importantes de la noche.
El director Alejandro González Iñárritu se consagró una vez más llevándose el BAFTA a Mejor Película, Mejor Director, Mejor Fotografía y Mejor Actor para Leonardo DiCaprio. El film se quedó con 4 estatuillas de las 8 nominaciones que tenía. Por su parte, el drama Brooklyn, protagonizado por Saoirse Ronan, ganó como Mejor Película Británica.
Las favoritas, Carol y Bridge of Spies, terminaron con las manos prácticamente vacías, a excepción del actor Mark Rylance que se consagró como el Mejor Actor de Reparto por su actuación en el film de Steven Spielberg. El tanque de George Miller, Mad Max: Fury Road, se llevó 4 premios en las principales categorías técnicas.
El resto de los ganadores no presentaron mayores sorpresas. Brie Larson (Room) se quedó con el BAFTA a Mejor Actriz, mientras que Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs) con el de Mejor Actriz de Reparto. La película argentina Relatos Salvajes, se quedó con la estatuilla a Mejor Película Extranjera.
Ya no quedan más instancias de predicción, y aunque aún no está del todo claro qué película se quedará con el premio máximo de Hollywood, todo parece indicar que The Revenant se llevará ese honor el próximo 28 de febrero. A continuación la lista con todos los ganadores:
