Nos seguimos acercando cada vez más a la temporada de premiaciones, y en el día de hoy se dieron a conocer las nominaciones de los Independent Spirit Awards 2016, que celebran lo mejor del cine independiente. El aclamado drama Carol del director Todd Haynes, se impone con 6 candidaturas, incluyendo Mejor Película.
A la película protagonizada por Cate Blanchett y Rooney Mara, la sigue de cerca Beasts of No Nation de Cary Fukunaga con 5 nominaciones. Anomalisa, la cinta animada del director Charlie Kaufman, Spotlight y Tangerine, todas con 3 nominaciones.
En el pasado, los Spirit Awards han sido criticados por acoger a películas de tipo «indie» que se mueven dentro del circuito comercial. Tal como fue el caso de Birdman o Silver Linings Playbook. Así que es bueno ver que este año la mayoría de los largometrajes nominados realmente pertenecen al ámbito independiente.
