En el día de hoy se llevó a cabo la ceremonia de entrega de los premios BAFTA, desde el Royal Opera House en Londres, Inglaterra. La gran candidata de la noche era The Artist con 12 candidaturas, y la británica Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy con 11.
La cinta de Martin Scorsese, Hugo, la gran candidata de los Oscar obtuvo escasos reconocimientos, la mayoría en categorías técnicas. Aunque Tinker Tailor no logró arrasar, se quedó con el premio a Mejor Película Británica, pero El Artista sí logró varias estatuillas incluyendo Mejor Película, Mejor Director para Michel Hazanavicius y Mejor Guión Original, entre otros.
El protagónico masculino fue para Jean Dujardin, por su actuación en The Artist. Meryl Streep logró derrotar a su gran contendiente Viola Davis, y se quedó con la categoría de Mejor Actriz por su actuación en La Dama de Hierro, en la que interpreta a la ex ministro británica Margaret Tatcher.
Por su parte, Christopher Plummer y Octavia Spencer, eran los favoritos en la categoría de reparto, y una vez más se llevan la estatuilla dorada, la mascara dorada en este caso, por lo que ya tienen asegurado su triunfo en el Oscar.
Los premios honoríficos fueron para: Martin Scorsese, que se llevó en BAFTA Fellowship, en honor a su gran contribución al mundo del cine, y por otro lado, el premio Oustanding British Contribution to Cinema (Destacada Contribución al Cine) a Jonh Hurt, como reconocimiento a su longeva trayectoria.
Nos acercamos a la recta final. El próximo domingo 26 tendremos plato fuerte cuando se lleve a cabo la 84º entrega de los Premios de la Academia, mejor conocidos como el Oscar. A continuación la lista con los ganadores de los premios BAFTA:
