Finalmente hemos llegado a la premiación más esperada de todas. Hoy a la mañana la actriz Jennifer Lawrence, junto al presidente de la Academia, Tom Sherak, dieron a conocer la lista de nominados para la 84° edición de los Premios Oscar.
Como todos los años sucede, hay una serie de candidatos que se mantienen firmes en ciertas categorías, pero este año hubo varias sorpresas. La película de Martin Scorsese, Hugo, se coloca a la cabeza con 11 nominaciones, mientras que la cinta en blanco y negro The Artist, la que se suponía que iba a ser la gran favorita de la noche, sólo logró 10.
Este año las candidatas a Mejor Película son 9, entre las que se incluyen, las 2 que acabamos de mencionar, más The Help, The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, War Horse, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close y The Tree of Life. Estos últimos filmes, han sido las dos grandes sorpresas, ya que en lo que iba de la temporada de premiaciones no habían sido muy tenidas en cuenta.
Las actuaciones, y aquí es donde se producen algunas decepciones. Tanto Michael Fassbender como Leonardo DiCaprio, quedaron fuera de la categoría de Mejor Actor Principal. Mientras que en el rubro femenino, fue Tilda Swinton quien quedó fuera, siendo en su lugar, Rooney Mara quien recibió la nominación por su actuación en The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (cinta que también ha sido un tanto ignorada por los miembros de la academia).
Los actores secundarios se han mantenido estables, al igual que las actrices con sólo una excepción. Shailenne Woodley no obtuvo ninguna nominación, aunque en su lugar, Melissa McCarthy logró una mención por su rol en Bridesmaids.
En la terna de Mejor Director, Terrence Malick ha resultado ser la gran sorpresa, ya que como se había predicho, Steven Spielberg quedó fuera de la categoría. Personalmente creo que han sido varias películas y actores dejados de lado. Lo que más llamó mi atención es que Las Aventuras de Tintin no quedó entre las candidatas a Mejor Película de Animación, lo cual me parece una decepción muy grande, ya que ha sido la mejor película animada del año.
Ya veremos quién logra llevarse la estatuilla dorada a casa, cuando la ceremonia de entrega de los Oscar se lleve a cabo el domingo 26 de febrero, en vivo desde el Kodak Theater en Los Angeles, California. Recordamos que la gala será conducida por Billy Crystal.
